Still Moon Arts Society
Still Moon Arts Society inspires vibrant and connected communities by creating artistic experiences and nurturing a passion for nature. Since its inception in 2004, the Society has used art to raise awareness and bring about positive change by mobilizing the local community and government partners to restore the Renfrew Ravine from a neglected dumping ground to a place of wonder, natural beauty, and educational opportunities. The Society is well known in Vancouver's Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood and hosts multiple classes and events for the community, including the annual Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival which has been running successfully for 18 years.

My Role
As a volunteer for Still Moon Arts I helped to strengthen their communication plans and refresh their brand, which is well-recognized across East Vancouver. I explored a variety of brand directions through multiple moodboards and discussions with the Society. In the end an energetic, colourful aesthetic was chosen, appealing to the many youth who contribute to the community-based organization. I created a Still Moon Arts brand guide outlining appropriate writing and visual styles, typography standards, audience targeting and social media strategy.

The Alder Eco Arts Hub
In addition to refreshing the Society’s logo, I developed a logo for The Alder Eco Arts Hub, a new community space at Slocan Park Fieldhouse coordinated by Still Moon Arts Society. For this new logo I continued the mosaic motif and used complimentary fonts to connect the visual aesthetic, while keeping each logo distinct.
"We intend to create a safe welcoming environment for neighbours to gather; to learn from Indigenous elders, artists, scientists, and each other; to make connections across cultures and disciplines; to appreciate the richness of nature; to respectfully create with natural materials; and to feel like we belong here in nature and in community."
